Application Delivery Controllers came about from a need to improve the performance and reliability of traditional web applications, but they have moved on significantly from simple hardware devices that load-balance TCP connections.
Zeus’ ZXTM product is a good example of the new breed of Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs). As the only software ADC available, it’s flexible and can be deployed in a wide manner of ways.
