Zeus Technology, the acknowledged leader in Internet infrastructure solutions, today announced that Zoto, an innovative new web-based image handling solution, has deployed ZXTM at the heart of its infrastructure.
Zoto's primary website, www.zoto.com, enables users to access and share photographs from anywhere and with a proprietary system for adding metadata to images, Zoto makes it simple and intuitive to manage the photos that today's picture-takers will accumulate over the coming years. Zoto is an answer to the question: "how will people archive, organize and search the millions of images they're taking with digital cameras and camera phones?"
Designed to be both intelligent and scalable, Zoto's infrastructure required a traffic management product that could determine where particular images were held across a cluster of hundreds or thousands of servers. Incorporating business logic in the traffic manager allows Zoto's application then to locate images no matter where they are located on the server cluster. As Zoto adds both users and images to the system, this functionality becomes even more vital as images increase and are continuously moved around the system.
Zoto looked at practically every Layer 4-7 solution on the market and ZXTM stood out as the only solution that could run on the same hardware as their custom-written clustering software. ZXTM enables Zoto to tightly couple their custom software with an application traffic manager. And with ZXTM's TrafficScript( language enabling Zoto to incorporate the required business logic into their system, together, the two solutions handle all aspects of the Zoto image hosting service.
"Using ZXTM installed on commodity-grade servers allows us to have a fully scalable, redundant image hosting system without spending a fortune on SANs or other expensive hardware," commented Kord Campbell, CEO at Zoto. "The ZXTM solution also ensures our users are able to use our service without any interruptions or delays."
Steve Palmer, VP of Marketing at Zeus commented "By using ZXTM's TrafficScript language to handle the business logic, Zoto can alter the behavior of their application without having to spend time, effort and money recoding it."
Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager is the next generation in high-availability, application-centric traffic management and load balancing, providing unparalleled control, intelligence, security and resilience for all your application traffic.
With its advanced TrafficScript
Zoto is an answer to the question: "how will people archive, organize and search the gazillions of images they're taking with digital cameras and camera phones?"
With a proprietary system for adding metadata to images, Zoto makes it simple and intuitive to manage the heaps of photos that today's picture- takers will accumulate over the coming years: ("let's see, where's that photo of Sara playing with Spot from Christmas 2003...here it is.") Zoto is a Web-based solution, so users can access and share their photos from anywhere, and can upload images via email, web interface or automatically via a desktop client application.
Zoto is also an answer to the question: "how do I manage the photos I post on social networking and blogging sites?" Zoto allows users to drag and drop photos directly into posts on their favorite social media sites directly from their Zoto homepage.
Zoto is currently in beta. We look forward to receiving your feedback at www.Zoto.com.
