The leading German online hotel reservations company receives up to 10,000 hits a minute, requiring a reliable web solution to cope with both present business demands and future growth. Pyramid, networking solutions specialists who boast the largest appliance collection in Europe, through their partnership with Zeus provided the perfect solution, incorporating Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager (ZXTM) software on two Pyramid Intel server appliances.
ZXTM is the only integrated software of its kind optimized for 64-bit hardware. It combines traffic management technology, advanced security, plus application optimization and provides greater scalability and traffic management on all network layers of the online reservation service. Providing critical security to sensitive customer information, ZXTM is unlike many other solutions in that it protects the complete website infrastructure, not just on a per-component basis. This ensures that wherever possible, points of vulnerability are not introduced.
With expected month-on-month growth of 10%, it was important for any solution to have the flexibility to grow with Hotel.de's business. ZXTM features vertical scalability that allows the reservations specialist to upgrade solutions without complicated migration. The TrafficCluster feature enables horizontal scalability and deployment in clusters rather than pairs. This ensures that services keep running and can cope with any increase in traffic load, at all times, as the business grows.
