SSL and Traffic Management Capabilities to Further Enhance Next Generation Server Offerings
April 26, 2006
Zeus Technology, a leading provider of award-winning application traffic management software, today announced a strategic OEM agreement with enterprise server vendor Fabric7.
The deal will see the Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager (ZXTM) integrated on Fabric7's flagship Q160 server, which is based on the company's unique fabric computing architecture. Fabric7's fabric computing architecture represents a fundamental breakthrough in server design that enables the creation of independent 'fabric servers' composed of normally separate resources such as hardware-partitioned processors, network bandwidth and storage access drawn from multiple Fabric7 servers and linked together across a low-latency, dynamic fabric. As a software-based solution ZXTM is the only application delivery product on the market that can be deployed in this environment.
As the lynch-pins of the fabric computing model, the Q160 server and the company's Q-visor management software allow businesses to right-size their datacenter resources in minutes without performance penalties or down-time. Fabric servers can be created, finely re-provisioned or destroyed dynamically as demand for datacenter resources change.
"Forming alliances with other visionary technology companies to deliver flexible, high performance servers for the enterprise datacenter is a core principle of Fabric7's go to market strategy." said Sharad Mehrotra, CEO at Fabric7. "Zeus' considerable sector expertise and innovative traffic management technology make it a compelling choice to enhance our fabric computing architecture and we are delighted to bring this offering to our customers."
Fabric7 will use the ZXTM's market-leading SSL capabilities and traffic management technology to ensure that its customers will be able to deploy an entirely secure and efficient datacenter fabric to connect multiple Fabric7 servers located in either a single datacenter or multiple geographically dispersed datacenters. ZXTM's standards-based 'Control API' will allow Fabric7 to easily integrate the traffic management functionality with the company's Q-visor management suite.
As the only pure software vendor of application traffic management solutions, Zeus is uniquely placed to improve business responsiveness and streamline operations through more reliable and intelligent application delivery. "ZXTM is an immensely capable application continuity product. It brings scalability, reliability and optimisation benefits to traditional, blade-based and virtualized environments alike," said Paul Di Leo, CEO, Zeus Technology. "Our vision for ZXTM has always included the need to provide a flexible suite of technology that can be deployed within larger solutions. Our ability to extract technology components, integrate with adjacent systems and even to re-brand product components is key to meeting this need."
Datacenter managers are increasingly looking to cut costs and improve service agility by adopting blade-based systems and virtualization techniques on commodity x86-based hardware. ZXTM’s modular software architecture means that it can be easily deployed in such environments, routing traffic to clusters of blades or virtualized servers. This optimizes service delivery and provides a centralised point of control, management and reporting for all application traffic.
Paul Di Leo added, "Fabric7 has developed a compelling product portfolio and we look forward to working with them to provide customers with an innovative solution to simplify datacenter management and reduce IT costs."
