Latest release of flagship technology delivers greater performance and features for Windows, Unix and Linux server environments
September 04, 2006
Zeus Technology today announced the launch of Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager (ZXTM) 7400, its first traffic management appliance to benefit from AMD's dual-core technology. Achieving 9,300 SSL transactions per second, twice the speed of Zeus' previous award winning product., The ZXTM 7400 features the latest version of Zeus' flagship ZXTM software to help make networked and web enabled applications faster, more reliable, secure and easier to manage.
The 7400 appliance management software moves ZXTM beyond its traditional Linux and Unix base making the appliance very attractive to organizations who are accustomed to Microsoft-based technologies. According to IDC, in 2005 Windows was the number one server operating system, beating Unix for the first time.
Latest software release delivers greater control and flexibility
The core ZXTM traffic management software has also been updated, and can be deployed on traditional servers, blade servers, in virtual environments and as part of third party solutions. Zeus' deployment options continue to be unparalleled in the industry.
With the majority of online shoppers reporting that repeated delays in web page loading would erode their loyalty as customers, and an overwhelming majority of employees finding that slow online applications affect their productivity, the impact on profitability becomes evident and measurable. ZXTM addresses the root causes of network traffic jams by using a number of intelligent trafficking protocols.
The new Request Rate Shaping capability provides the ability to control the rate at which different types of requests are processed from different clients. This forms a cornerstone of ZXTM's ability to provide customized levels of service that ensures valuable application traffic is prioritized.
Other new features include complete control over how requests are routed for remote desktop applications, additional capabilities to control how network traffic is managed, transformed and cached, and improved support for IIS authentication and mobile devices.
"Not only does ZXTM 7400 build on Zeus' award-winning technology, it now delivers twice the speed. Furthermore, the fact that this is the first time it has been offered as a fully configured, easily deployed solution for customers operating Windows Server environments is a significant step for Zeus and will open up many new market opportunities," said Paul Di Leo, CEO of Zeus Technology.
"The features introduced in the new version of our ZXTM software will also help our customers improve the performance and resilience of their web-enabled applications, giving them greater control over security, provisioning, and traffic management," said Di Leo.
