Web Serving Capacity

The growth of the Internet continues unabated around us. For any business online, the fundamental question remains the same: is the capacity of your web site up to the challenges posed by increased demand?

Performance and Scalability

Zeus Web Server (ZWS) has dominated leading industry benchmarks such as SPECweb and SPECwebSSLsince 1995. Its unique software architecture makes it the most scalable webserver available, able to handle hundreds of thousands of simultaneousconnections, and host hundreds of thousands of websites. This performanceadvantage means you can extract far more capacity from existing hardware, andreduces hardware requirements for new deployments.

Efficiently serve mobile users

For slow, mobile-based traffic, the web server has a different challenge. Because each connection can stay open for several seconds at a time, the web server has to allocate internal resources for the duration of these connections. ZWS has a unique SMP-capable non-threaded/non-forking architecture which allows it to handle the huge concurrency of this type of workload, dramatically increasing a server's capacity compared to Apache.

Blistering SSL performance

ZWS contains the world's fastest SSL-stack, highly optimized for modern 64-bit platforms. The performance difference between ZWS and Apache is is even more extreme under SSL workloads. The industry standard SPECweb99_SSL benchmark simulates real-life broadband traffic and the benchmark results speak for themselves - on every platform and every architecture, companies like Dell, HP, Sun, IBM, Intel and AMD all choose ZWS for their submissions; ZWS holds every SPECweb99_SSL world record, from commodity one-way servers to huge SMP monster boxes.

Built for web server farms

Clustering designed into the core

ZWS revolutionizes cluster management by providing centralized control andreal-time reporting of your entire server farm via a secure communicationchannel. This greatly simplifies cluster configuration, maintenance and applicationprovisioning.

Horizontal scalability, made easy

Scaling out server farms using commodity hardware can be extremely costeffective, but traditionally, administering large clusters of machines hasbeen a time-consuming and difficult task. ZWS makes life simple again.

Web Server Farm

ZWS was designed from the outset with clustering in mind, soits management interfaces are designed to simplify - not complicate - web siteadministration. All of the web servers in the cluster are managed from theZeus Administration Interface. This web-based control panel allows you todeploy changes to single or multiple web sites on every machine in yourcluster with the click of a button. Servers can be dynamically added orremoved from your web cluster with another mouse-click, and the intuitivegraphical user interface (GUI) ensures that the chances of operator error arekept to a minimum.

Scriptable application provisioning

ZWS is easily scripted, allowing repetitive application provisioning tasks to be fully automated. The scripting interface is also fully cluster-aware, so application provisioning scripts don't need to worry about the complexities of managing change across entire server farms.

On-the-fly provisioning

ZWS's unique Dynamic Virtual Servers capability lets you achieve true on-the-fly provisioning of websites in a mass hosting environment. DVS is useful in environments where thousands of websites are regularly provisioned, reconfigured or removed by a website management system.

When ZWS recieves a request for a website that does not exist, DVS queries anexternal service to obtain the configuration settings for that website. Thequery could initiate a provisioning action, such as deploying a defaultdocument root on the fly.

DVS is an additional licensed option for ZWS.
