Can I use ZXTM Load Balancer to secure non-SSL services?

With its native SSL capabilities, ZXTM Load Balancer can be used to provide an SSL-secured view of your application services, even if they are not able to do so themselves. This means you can provide secure versions of your intranet application services to employees working remotely. This solution, and many others can be found in our solutions section.

How does ZXTM Load Balancer handle SSL traffic?

ZXTM Load Balancer can load balance any SSL traffic untouched, or for greater control and end-to-end security, can decrypt and re-encrypt the traffic as it passes through. This allows you to perform intelligent content inspection and manipulation without compromising on security. More information on the SSL performance of ZXTM Load Balancer is available under Optimization.

Can ZXTM Load Balancer make SSL sessions persistent?

ZXTM Load Balancer fully understands SSL session information, and ensures that SSL sessions are honored. This minimizes the number of expensive SSL handshakes that must be performed, and ensures that any application level sessions running over the SSL transport layer are automatically preserved. ZXTM Load Balancer ensures that sensitive information does not move unencrypted across the local network. It also provides the ability to authentication users using SSL client certificates.

How can I load balance multiple SSL web sites?

Load balancing multiple SSL web sites without decrypting first can cause problems with less capable load balancers. This is because the information used by the web server to establish which site is being requests is contained within the encrypted stream, and therefore has to rely on other information such as site IP address. Most load balancers are unable to pass on this information to the web server.

With the ability to decrypt and re-encrypt SSL traffic, ZXTM Load Balancer can inspect the requests as they arrive to decide which web server should receive them.
