Zeus Technology is celebrating following the announcement that its ground-breaking software, Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager (ZXTM), has been awarded a prestigious industry award for innovation.

The editors of CMP Media LLC's Network Magazine scoured the global IT industry for the most important technology developments and selected ZXTM as the winner of the 'Product Breakthrough' award in the Application-Aware Infrastructure category. Described by the judges as a "complete and scalable traffic management solution in software", ZXTM integrates three core functions of traffic management, optimization and security in a single solution.

CMP Media LLC's Network Magazine Innovation Awards are a major annual event designed to recognize the best products that align technological creativity with enterprise needs to create a business-optimized IT network. The accolade identifies Zeus Technology as a leader in technological creativity alongside industry leaders such as IBM and Cisco, who will also receive an award at the lunch ceremony on 4 May at Networld+Interop in Las Vegas.

Some product breakthroughs cram more capabilities into smaller boxes, but Zeus Technology did away with boxes altogether. The Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager (ZXTM) packs a full-fledged traffic manager into an application that runs on any x86-based server running Linux, Solaris, or FreeBSD. ZXTM provides SSL offload, load balancing, content caching, and TCP connection multiplexing, along with XML processing capabilities and the ability to rewrite Web requests.

A ZXTM license costs about two-thirds less than comparable appliances, yet offers similar performance when run on 64-bit Opteron hardware, for which the application was optimized. Need better performance? Just run ZXTM on faster hardware, or set up an ZXTM cluster.
