Zeus Technology delivers superior price/performance versus F5 and Citrix
Even including the cost of fully loaded hardware, the Zeus software solution still achieves up to and beyond twice the price/performance of competitor appliances.
Cambridge, UK, 24 November, 2008 – It has been announced today that, in the latest industry standard throughput tests, Zeus Technology, the only software-based application delivery controller (ADC), is able to provide the highest price/performance and scalability across any server platform, be it running on UltraSPARC T2, AMD or Intel X86.
This price/performance ratio is supported by the low cost of acquisition, lower total cost of ownership, lower depreciation and increased return on investment that only a pure software solution, such as Zeus can provide.
The graph below illustrates how, by using Zeus, organizations needing an ADC can benefit from the wide availability of high performance servers, rather than having to purchase proprietary network appliances like F5 and Citrix.
Across the board, from small business through to global enterprise, the bottom-line benefit to the market is considerable cost reduction, without sacrificing performance or capability.
Nick Hook, Chief Architect and Director of Engineering, at Rapattoni: “We want an environment that scales with our growth. With our prior vendor, we had to buy new hardware each time to get more capacity. We had to move from one unit to another, and if we hadn't found Zeus, we would have had to buy a nearly unaffordable option. With Zeus — and the fact that it’s pure software — we can scale by simply adding licenses as we need them. Even taking into account the cost of buying the hardware, we still achieve significantly better price/performance and return on investment.”
Zeus Technology has also forged a reseller agreement with Sun Microsystems ensuring customers can benefit from a best-of-breed solution that delivers outstanding price/performance at every point.
Sohrab Modi, Vice President, Advanced Technologies, at Sun Microsystems said: “Today's announcement by Zeus confirms the exemplary performance of their application delivery on our SPARC CMT Enterprise servers. The overall value of the Zeus/Sun solution highlights Sun's continued commitment to helping customers derive superior price performance benefits".
The tests were carried out using Zeus Technology’s ZXTM (Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager) software on Sun SPARC Enterprise servers and AMD and Intel-based servers.
